There were so many fun things to remember about this shoot! First, I was so nervous. It was Root and Wilde’s first styled shoot and I was the new kid on the block, I didn’t know anyone. This was also the first time I was able to show some real creativity. From the purple spray-painted plumosa fern to the foraged elements off the side of the highway in New Braunfels, everything came together so perfectly, and I had so much fun.
All us vendors had such a good time. Although we had to keep resetting basically everything due to the 25mph wind gusts and probably smelt terrible since it was 105 degrees outside, it was worth it.
Styled shoots are longgggg days. They’re just as much work as a wedding setup, if not more. We showed up around 10 am, and didn’t roll out of the parking lot until well after dark.
The Allen Farmhaus is an amazing wedding venue in New Braunfels, but the goal of this shoot was to give an elopement feel, so we utilized the open field behind the venue. We had a ceremony site with an amazing backdrop, an intimate dinner setting, a kick-ass tent, and some dreamy lounge sets.
Not only did this styled shoot assure me I would be able to make it in the industry, but it also showed me how tight-knit this community of wedding creatives is. They were so welcoming and I’ve since created so many great relationships with them and many others. They are truly community over competition.
Every vendor brought their A-Game on this miserably hot day. The photos, the rentals, the backdrop, the food (which we may or may not have devoured after photos were done being shot), and other detail was amazing! Give a group of creatives their freedom, and they will blow your socks off.
