Intentional + Intimate Wedding at Sage Hill Inn | Briana + Alexander

Favorite. Wedding. To. Date.

Everything about Alexander + Briana’s wedding day was intentional. From the lavender in his boutonniere to her family heirloom wedding ring. When one of my favorite planners, Ahstyn, with Lila Lane Events reached out to me about Briana’s vision for her small, intimate wedding that would be held at the most beautiful spa retreat turned wedding venue – I prayed so hard that they would book with me. I hadn’t been this excited about a wedding in a while.

Briana + Alexander were originally supposed to get married in France – hence the touches of lavender in his bout and her bouquet – but COVID had some other plans for them. After deciding to stay and get married in the states, they chose Sage Hill Inn in Kyle to tie the knot and celebrate with their closest family and friends. Sage Hill Inn isn’t your typical wedding venue, but it was so intimate and gave such a personal touch to their wedding weekend. There was so much charm and it totally added to the experience they were trying to achieve for their big day.

At our initial consultation, Briana was so open to any and all of my ideas. She ultimately gave me the reins when it came to her florals. Her only requests – spring colors and florals to accentuate their ceremony spot, but not take away from the stunning hill country views. Check and check.

This was the first HOT weekend for us, so of course my anxiety was at an all time high. If you know me, you know I don’t book weddings in the summer due to the mental toll it takes on me. I have a huge fear of flowers not looking their best due to being out in the heat. I waited until as late as I possibly could to set out their ceremony arrangements and made sure those babies had a ton of water to drink from. Rest assured, they ended up being fine and I gave myself high blood pressure for no reason – per usual.

We decided to play on the charm of the venue by using bud vases with loose blooms, handlaid smilax, and pillar candles for guest tables. The head table was dressed up with some compotes, floral frogs, and more bud vases. Total garden party vibes.

When the gallery for Alexander + Brianna hit my inbox at 12:00am, I was speechless. I probably scrolled through the album until 1:00am, saving pretty much every image. Everything came together so perfectly.

As creatives, it’s easy for us to get in a slump and feel like we’re just going through the motions. We are our biggest critic and that can be extremely difficult at times. This wedding – not just the florals – reminded me why I do what I do and why I love it so damn much. For those in the midst of wedding planning – trust your vendors. When you do, they tend to create magic.

Until next time flower friends,

Evann
